Modernization & economic pressures have made the Red Yao culture vulnerable to extinction; Minimum 5% of profits go back to protect their future.
THE STORY
• • •
For over 2,000 years, the Red Yao tribe has lived isolated, high upon the rice-terraced mountains of Longsheng. Secluded, the Red Yao women developed powerful hair-care rituals, centered upon the cultivation of Longsheng Rice, that have prevented their hair from greying for centuries.
OUR VALUES
• • •
The most important lesson we've learned from the Red Yao women is that highly effective cosmetics can be made safely, naturally and without destroying the earth. At Viori, it is our mission to create highly-effective, natural cosmetics that honor the values and traditions of the Red Yao Women for future generations to come.
YOUR BEAUTIFUL REASON
• • •
Not only do we purchase Longsheng Rice directly from the Red Yao women at a 100% markup, we also give back a minimum of at least 5% of profits directly to the tribe. This money is used towards projects the Red Yao believe will bring economic prosperity, ecological harmony, cultural preservation, and the social wellbeing to their tribe.
